As y'all know, I intentionally make it difficult for y'all to edit posts, to prevent a problem I've seen in other forums - that being when someone makes a silly remark, they just delete it and pretend it never happened.
The exchange for this, on my part, is that I need to edit posts for y'all from time to time.
To that end, I have a few pointers and requests.
First, there is a 'preview post' option - USE IT. You can look over your posts, and make sure they're right before actually posting.
Second, you have five minutes after posting to edit your posts - USE IT. You can look over your posts, and make sure they're right, so long as you do it within five minutes.
Third, the 'resource ID' for each post is different each time you load a page. It cannot be used by myself to identify the post you need edited. The best way to send me directly to the 'offending' post is found at the top of each post. There is a link showing the date and time of the post - clicking this will open a box containing the link directly to that post. Copy and paste that to your message to me, and I will know exactly which post to edit.
Once a post has been replied to by another Member, I will not edit it. This would do away with the reason I limit post edits. If this happens, just post again, and say what your mistake was.
Also, from now on, I will not edit a post, unless you request it in a PM. This is a matter of security - we have a few dozen regular posters, and I cannot keep up with your personal email addresses. Therefore, there is little to prevent 'Member X' from obtaining an email address 'Member Y@hotmail.com' and asking me to edit 'Member Y's' post.
None of this is something that has made me mad, or caused any real problem, but it will make my life MUCH easier!
